Why wool diaper covers?

Wool has so many beneficial properties in regards to cloth diapering that making a wool diaper cover was a no brainer! When many people think of wool, they think of a parent or grandparents' old wool sweater that itched beyond belief when touched. However, the wool that is used in these wool diaper covers is truly as soft as a t-shirt. You have to feel these to believe them and our wool Stacinator diaper covers are made right here in the US! Wool diaper covers are amazing because not only are they soft, but they help to keep your baby cool in the summer and warm in the winter while providing excellent leakage protection. Furthermore, wool diaper covers have naturally inherent anti-bacterial properties. The reason for this is the lanolin. The same properties that allow wool diaper covers to be waterproof lend it the anti-bacterial properties as well. Wool diaper covers are also very breathable allowing plenty of air to circulate around your baby's bum to further reduce the chance of your baby getting a rash or your baby getting too hot.

Why Stacinator wool diaper covers?

Stacinator offers wool diaper covers as soft and gentle as a t-shirt but made with 100% milled wool but rigorous enough to keep all the wetness in and stand the test of time. These wool diaper covers are also highly adjustable often times allowing you to skip a size but still have it fit your growing baby perfectly, thus saving you money. Additionally, these are perfect for DAY and NIGHT!

What cloth diapers to pair with fleece diaper covers

Wool diaper covers are great with prefolds, fitted diapers or our hemp diapers. They work particularly well for heavy wetters or for prolonged diaper use. Wool diaper covers are PERFECT for overnight. Try pairing your wool diaper cover with a Happy Hempy Hemp Diaper plus a hemp stuffin or two for your perfect overnight diapering solution.

Caring for your wool diaper covers

Caring for wool diaper covers isn't as hard as some people think it is. It is true that you cannot simply toss them in with your diapers, but you also don't need to wash them nearly as often! When you first take your wool diaper cover off of your baby, it may smell slightly of urine, however that will dissipate in a few minutes and after airing out the diaper cover, you can then re-use it. You know you need to wash/re-lanolize it when the smell no longer dissipates in a few minutes and it is not at it's peak potential for leak protection.

To wash: hand wash your wool diaper covers in cold water and hang to dry. You may see a little bit of shrinkage after the first wash. To lanolize wool diaper covers, I highly recommend Eucalan wool wash. It has the lanolin right in the bottle so you are able to wash it and lanolize it in one easy step! And then you are ready to go! Note that dark color wool diaper covers will bleed. You will want to bleed the dark colors first before washing them with other wool diapers covers. To bleed your wool diapers covers: mix 3 cups white vinegar with 3tbsp salt, wet wool in lukewarm water, add to vinegar/salt mixture. Microwave for two, 3-minute sessions. Allow to COMPLETELY cool, rinse in lukewarm water, wash, re-lanolize. (if you rinse before allowing to completely cool, you may unintentionally felt your garment).
